WIRELESS

About This Project

We support our clients in the realisation of new-generation wireless networks.

We are leaders in the outlining of strategies for the development and evolution of fixed, mobile and broadcasting wireless networks. We have contributed to the creation of the first third and fourth generation networks in Italy and we are currently working with the most important operators in Italy in the run-up to 5G networks, identifying and analysing the main enabling factors. We have furthermore taken part in the planning/design and roll-out of the largest fixed wireless networks in Italy.

We have accrued substantial and tested know-how in terms of the technologies, the markets and the regulations in the broadcasting sector, in consideration, too, of the forthcoming transformation brought about by the imminent abandonment of the 700 MHz spectrum and by the adoption of new business standards and model (DVB-T2 e IP-TV).

We are actively participating in the most important technical tables, collaborating on the outlining of future strategies and monitoring the evolution of the telecommunications world. We are, in addition, ready and willing to face the new challenges that the Industry 4.0 and the IoT will be representing over the coming years.

We are currently working with the most important operators in Italy in the following areas:

  • Strategic planning of fixed, mobile and radio and television broadcasting wireless networks.
  • Program Office for the end-to-end management of complex access network development projects and wireless transport.
  • Selection of technologies and supplies.
  • Outlining of creation processes and network management.
  • Regulatory management and management of institutional relations.

Strategic Planning

Main activities undertaken:

  • Development of mobile, wireless fixed and television broadcasting planning models.
  • Evaluation of planning specifications according to topological parameters (population receiving signal, surface covered, expected throughput per client…), taking into consideration the particular aspects of the different technologies and network architectural frameworks (FWA, 4G, 5G and DVB-T) as well as the planning choices undertaken (positioning and configuration of the BTS’s and the transmissive stations, type and backhauling capacity…).
  • Evaluation of the network realisation costs according to the different deployment strategies (solutions regarding passive sharing such as co-siting and solutions related to active sharing).
  • Evaluation of the strategic assets in order to realise mobile, wireless fixed and television broadcasting networks such as spectrum, towers, LCN.

Program Office

Main activities undertaken:

  • Management of the target and final statement roll-out plans, spending check on the basis of consolidated benchmarks (cost per BTS, per covered area, etc.).
  • Construction of executive reporting and progress analysis panels (from average realisation times to deployment costs).

Selection of technologies and supplies

Main activities undertaken:

  • Procurement of the materials and the services for the realisation of wireless networks and the associated administrative obligations (the definition of terms, contracts, lists, service levels and sanctions included).
  • Selection of technologies and supplies: passive components (e.g. antennas, shelters, towers), active components (e.g. radio devices, base band apparatus, devices for backhauling in optic fibre or via radio).
  • RFI/P/Q processes, selection support, formalising of agreements, restructuring of service level monitoring processes.

Support processes for the creation and management of the network

Main activities undertaken:

  • Support activities (processes and systems) in an end-to-end logic for the planning, realisation, commercialisation and maintenance of wireless network services.
  • Outlining and optimisation of Network Roll-Out and Network Optimization processes for the deployment of wireless network, in particular for the phases of: analysis of the territory, planning, evaluation and acquisition of existing infrastructures, relations with the authorities and entities that own the land for permits, support for the testing out of the network and quality monitoring.
  • Knowledge of the main standards defined for wireless technologies such as ITU, 3GPP, ETSI and DVB.
  • Knowledge of data analysis processes and systems and extraction of information used for the study of operative and business processes.
  • Knowledge of long-standingyear in year out – budget creation processes.

Regulatory authority and management of institutional relations

Main activities undertaken:

  • Knowledge of regulation topics and main technical tables through constant monitoring of domestic regulations (Code of Electronic Communications and AGCOM and MISE resolutions.…) and EU regulations (decisions in relation to the Commission/European Parliament and CEPT recommendations) in the area of acquisition/assignment of spectral resources and sharing and hosting of active and passive infrastructures.
  • Management of relations with entities and authorities, institutional presentations, compilation of technical opinions in support of administrative and legal proceedings, management of relations with regulation entities and institutions.
